K15 Island Resort is cite of the 10 resorts and chalets operating on this beautiful 'island with cotton‑ white beach and blue waters.

Formerly called Primula Kapas Island Resort, it reopened lust about a year ago but business has picked up and all the rooms are fully booked for the holiday seasons.

Scuba divers come to dive and to explore a Japanese warship that sunk here during World War 11. Some of the items in the ship are still intact.

Visitors can also go jungle trekking, boating, canoeing, kayiking, snorkelling, fishing and squid catching (season from May to early August).

Its managing director Wan Supian Wan Ishak said squid catching is one of the yearly events in Pulau Kapas and attracts enthusiasts from as far as Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

"We are going to build more activity sites for guests, including a herbal garden and an area for obstacles games," he said.

GETTING THERE
Only 15 minutes by boat from Marang. From Kuantan, drive north about 400kms and upon reaching Marang town and its jetty, take a boat to Pulau Kapas. From Kota Baru, the distance to Marang is about 3001kms. From Sultan Mahmud airport, it's 50kms.

ACTIVITIES
Snorkelling, scuba diving, island tour, squid catching and turtle watching. Fees per person: Scuba diving (RM90 to RM220, depending on the number of dives), snorkelling (RM25), jungle‑trekking (RMIG), island tour (RM20) and for squid catching, the usual charge is RM400 for one boat of 10 persons
