Aur Island & Dayang Island
With its deep clear blue waters, the main draw here is the exotic marine life that abounds in the coral reefs. There are excellent sites for both day and night dives, with the best times between April and October when the sea is calm and visibility is at its best.
The sites have interesting names like Crocodile Rock(a favourite night dive spot), Robert’s Tip(for dusk dives) and The Garden or ‘Secret Garden’. A sunken wreck, believed to date back to the Ming Dynasty, lies close to Teluk Mariam while more challenging dive sites are at Rayner’s Rock, Pulau Pinang and The Pinnacles.
Located some 70 km off Mersing, Dayang and Aur lie adjacent to each other, separated by a calm strip of water where private yachts and boats drop anchor.
Dayang Pasir Putih Resort on Dayang Island caters to small groups, providing meals and basic accommodation in chalets and longhouses.
Jetty: Mersing ferry terminal or Sedili fishing port by hired boats.
Things to do: Enjoy leisure and serious diving by day and night with excellent underwater photo opportunities. Anticipate close encounters with eels, wrasses and the occasional shark.
